PALMER, Massachusetts -- As reported by the Boston Herald: "The Mohegan Tribe is gambling that the Legislature will approve casinos in the Bay State next year. The Connecticut-based tribe has
leased 152 acres in Palmer, the potential site of a resort casino.
"...Securing the land is the next step in getting a foothold in Western Massachusetts. Earlier this year, Gov. Deval Patrick's proposal for three resort casinos was rejected by House Speaker Sal DiMasi (D-North End) and other House members.
"Mohegan's lease with Northeast Realty Associates LLC is for 50 years with an option to extend for another 49 years. It includes an option to purchase the property in the future..."
