The protagonist, Raven Townsend, decides he's too good for Maine and shuns his poor New England upbringing. His grandiose plans of becoming a famous Biblical archaeologist suddenly get shelved when he takes a detour into the world of high stakes blackjack. His exceptional mathematical gifts, phenomenal memory, and incredible determination enable him to succeed where most fail—but at the expense of his girlfriend and original dreams. Raven's quest to win a million dollars in blackjack becomes the driving force in his life. However, a sharp-eyed casino surveillance expert stands in the way of Raven's goal, producing a dramatic, page-turning finish in casinos from Reno to the Caribbean.

Blackjack: Take The Money and Run
by Henry Tamburin
Henry Tamburin's most popular book on blackjack contains three levels of playing strategies. 1) For the beginner, a non-counting strategy that will give you a slight edge in some blackjack games. 2) The intermediate level strategy contains an introduction to card counting. 3) The advanced level playing strategy is a powerful system that will give the blackjack player up to a 1.5% edge over the casinos. The book also contains advice on which blackjack games give you the most profit potential, the risks involved in playing blackjack, how to play without fear of getting barred, and money management discipline.
May be the most fascinating book written on blackjack counting teams since the days of Ken Uston (who died in 1987). Written by Ben Mezrich, who gained the trust of a half-dozen MIT students (occupation: blackjack counters), this work covers a four-year period when the 'team' was in its heyday (1994 to 1998), winning big and escaping the clutches of casino management with minimum damage to self and bankrolls. Mezrich must have truly blended in with this group of near-geniuses and sharpies who often communicated in code right at the tables, signaling verbally and non-verbally. But the strength of the book is in his astute observations of how Las Vegas compares to Atlantic City; what the casino mentality is with regard to attracting players and high rollers, including the all-powerful 'whales' (the highest of high rollers), in how surveillance systems are designed to operate, how counters can be threatened, roughed up and warned never to return again.
Read Full Review of 'Bringing Down the House'This is the long-awaited sequel to the author's best selling (out of print) classic, Turning the Tables on Las Vegas. With a quarter century's worth of experiences in high-stakes gambling, Andersen here forges a blueprint for success in blackjack, poker and other games of life. He addresses virtually every aspect of blackjack advantage play: game selection, longevity, tipping, employee relations, guises, disguises, false identification, credit, comps, risk, heat, dress, demeanor and even diet. Peppered with anecdotes and stories, the book takes you on a vicarious journey into the rarefied realm of the blackjack pro and shows you what it takes to be one.
Read Full Review of 'Burning the Tables in Las Vegas'Semyon Dukach was known as the Darling of Las Vegas. He was notorious at twenty-one, with a pwoerful system the casinos had never sen before, and a bull's-eye on his back. This cocky hotshot was the biggest high roller to appear in Sin City in decades, a mathematical genius with a system the casinos couldn't top--a system that has never been revealed until now; one that has nothing to do with card counting, wasn't illegal, and was more powerful than anything that had been tried before
