Tulane University will be offering casino classes. the history of gambling to modern slot machine technology.
"The history and slot machines classes are both new and part of an expanded program. Tulane last year began offering a baccalaureate in casino resort management in addition to its associate degree and post-graduate program.
"'Jeremy McQueen, the regional data base manager for Beau Rivage who also covers the Gold Strike Casino, is going to be teaching a brand new course that's unique to the Coast,' said Alan Silver, director of Tulane's casino program. 'It's about gaming device management, slot operations, slot math, probability and player tracking systems.'
"…Harrah's Entertainment through its foundation has established a scholarship in casino resort management for ethnic minorities. The scholarships are renewable up to five years for a combined total award of $7,500. The deadline to apply is Jan. 22.
"The Tulane University Mississippi Coast Campus is also starting a new semester of casino resort management courses.
"Offerings: casino and resort management, hospitality financial accounting, introduction to marketing, history of gambling, casino device operations management, leadership and group dynamics, internship.
