SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- Go Daddy -- known for its great-looking, confident, accomplished spokeswomen -- announced today the newest Go Daddy Girl comes from the world of fast cards -- not fast cars.
Professional
poker player, Vanessa Rousso, is the company's newest Go Daddy Girl.
The partnership takes shape just as Rousso prepares to play in the 5th Annual National Heads-Up Poker Championship starting tomorrow in Las Vegas. Go Daddy is both the tournament sponsor and the sponsor of NBC's broadcast of the event, which airs on six consecutive Sundays starting in April.
A match-up between Rousso -- known as the Lady Maverick of the professional poker circuit -- and Go Daddy -- a company known worldwide as an Internet maverick -- is a prime pairing.
"Vanessa is smart, she's aggressive and she's hot," said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. "She has an economics degree from Duke. She's working on a law degree at the University of Miami. And, like Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick, she's competing successfully in what has been a man's sport. She is definitely Go Daddy material!"
In recent years, Rousso has been one of the top female money earners on the tour. Last spring she won NBC's Poker After Dark.
"Poker is my passion, but that actually started with my interest in economics," said Rousso. "I know a strong company when I see one and Go Daddy is absolutely dominant. Go Daddy is a world leader in so many Internet categories, plus it has a reputation for being fun, edgy and aggressive. It's just my style."
People's passion for poker has exploded in recent years, thanks in large part to the Internet. Industry experts believe some 70 million Americans play poker recreationally. According to a November 2008 CBS '60 Minutes' report, about half-a-million people are playing online at any given moment.
Rousso joins some big names at the Go Daddy table, including Go Daddy Girl and IndyCar Series' most popular driver Danica Patrick, original Go Daddy Girl Candice Michelle, as well as NASCAR's most popular driver and Go Daddy spokesman, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
"We're all calculated risk takers," adds Parsons. "I have taken chances all my life. After all, 10 years ago, GoDaddy.com was a huge risk - that has paid off in spades."
Go Daddy is the world's #1 domain name registrar. It is also a world leader in Web site hosting and new SSL certificates. Go Daddy offers more than 40+ products for anyone interested in starting a Web site, including Web site design, Quick Shopping Cart for online vendors and - new in 2009 - Go Daddy Marketplace, an online shopping mall where Go Daddy leverages the draw of its popular global Web site to showcase customer products. Go Daddy also offers industry-best customer service 24/7/365.
