- Bet the pass, come, don’t pass, or don’t come.
- Take or lay odds.
- Occasionally bet the place six or place eight (if you are so inclined).
- Don’t waste time or money on place four, five, nine, ten, or buy and lay bets for the remaining numbers because odds wagers are better.
- Avoid proposition bets (hop bets, big red, and similar wagers). Stay away from the field.
A typical pass/come line of play using this strategy would be to bet pass, take odds if a point is rolled and place the six/eight (unless the point is six or eight). Aggressive bettors might follow up with one, two, or three additional come bets and odds.
A typical don’t-pass/don’t-come line of play would be to bet don’t pass; take odds if a point is rolled and possibly hedge with the six/eight. Aggressive bettors might follow up with one or two additional don’t-come bets and odds.
There is no “wrong” way to combine your bets when you stick to optimal strategy. The only real mistake would be putting too much money on the table (we’ll cover that in the next article).
