Asian Poker Tour Macau festival off to good start

Wednesday, August 12, 2009
MACAU, China -- Asia's original poker tour, the Asian Poker Tour, today kicked off its record-breaking 12-day festival at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau. With the main event scheduled from
August 20 -23, the first eight days of the festival are dedicated to an impressive array of satellite and side events, with guaranteed prize pools sure to pique the interest of poker players of all levels.

Each day of the Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival features a tournament side event, with guaranteed prize pools reaching as high as HK$150,000. With buy-ins as low as HK$1,000, it is certainly worth putting your poker skills to the test. Side events include a HK$100,000 No Limit Hold'em Greed event on August 14, a HK$150,000 No Limit Hold'em R+A Event on August 16, a High Rollers event which begins on August 17 and the Battle of the Nations event on August 19. A complete schedule of side events can be found at www.asianpt.com. The ongoing satellite tournaments which continue until August 20 can give you a chance to win your way to a seat at the main event.

The Main Event prize pool is projected at US$1 million and some of the world's best poker players will take part in the event, including Chinese poker player Johnny Chan, who is part of a select group of players to have won two World Series of Poker main event bracelets (in 1987 and 1988). Joining Chan is the Asian Poker Tour's Poker Pack, a group of young poker stars, including recent World Series of Poker bracelet winners JC Tran and Steve Sung, as well as Quinn Do, Nam Le, David "Chino" Rheem and Kwang Soo Lee.

Chan and the Poker Pack are just some of the stars to feature in the Asian Poker Tour's Poker King Celebrity Charity Poker Challenge on Tuesday, August 18 beginning at 6 p.m. With Caritas Macau as the Challenge's beneficiary, the Asian Poker Tour will be joined by some of today's hottest celebrities including Erica Yuen (2005 Miss Hong Kong, 5th place), Natalie Ng (1998 Miss Hong Kong, 2nd place), Kama Lo and Lavina Chung.

Setting this year's poker festival into cinematic stone is the pairing of the Asian Poker Tour with the highly anticipated film Poker King, directed by Chan Hing-Kai and Janet Chun and starring Louis Koo, Sean Lau Ching-Wan, Stephy Chang, Cherrie In and Josie Ho. The Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival will be a backdrop to parts of the movie with filming taking place at the StarWorld Casino and Hotel.

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is Asia’s biggest and original poker tour. The Tour was acquired by AsianLogic (AIM:ALOG) in early 2008 and has held two successful events: one in the Philippines and the other in Macau. The Asian Poker Tour plans to hold at least four major events in 2009 where each tournament is set to attract live players as well as Internet players who will qualify via online satellites. Asian Poker Tour main events continue to be highly anticipated by poker players and enthusiasts in Asia and all over the world.
