Bad Beat Jackpot is Hit Multiple Times and 18 Players Share Over $67k

Monday, December 10, 2012
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -It looks like it's not just Black Chip Poker's monthly leaderboard competition The Beast that pays out players ridiculously frequently. The online poker site's Bad Beat Jackpot
game was popped two times in just 7 days since it first launched on its new poker community Winning Poker Network.

"It looks like the recent addition of Black Chip Poker to our network brought some good luck to the players taking beats at our Bad Beat Jackpot tables," stated Robert Gray, a Black Chip Poker spokesperson. "The Beast is famous for making hundreds of poker players ecstatic every month, but today the Bad Beat Jackpot takes the spotlight for its commitment to crowning winners." The first Bad Beat Jackpot was popped on December 3rd, when marcusdaily2's straight flush to the 10 of spades got smacked out of the hand by quanna's straight flush to the Q of spadesin a hand of Texas Hold'em that would otherwise had gone terribly wrong.

But this isn't regular Texas Hold'em, so instead of walking away with the emotional scar of a bad beat, marcusdaily2 left the table with $18,075.84 in extra cash and the winner of the hand cashed $12,049.35. On top of that everyone else at the table collected $860.92 each. At any table marked Jackpot, Black Chip Poker automatically softens the blow of losing a hand of Hold'em with eights or anything better by paying poker players big money when misfortune strikes. And that includes more than just the loser of the hand. The winner of any Bad Beat Jackpot losing hand stands to win a share of the jackpot, too, and so do they players who participated in the losing hand.

The December 3rd win was followed by one more jackpot burst—on December 10th, CathyMarieA won $15k for losing to shapeshifter (who pocketed over $10k for winning), Quad J's vs Quad A's and for the players at the table, they all collected $738.43 each just for watching that awful beat. While the randomness of the Bad Beat Jackpot popping continues to attract online poker players to Black Chip Poker in record numbers, it's actually just one of two jackpots that poker players compete for. In addition to contributing money to the Bad Beat Jackpot, anyone who sits down at a cash table marked Jackpot automatically contributes money to the Beast, Black Chip Poker's groundbreaking progressive points race. And as they play at Jackpot tables, players earn leaderboard points toward the monthly Beast leaderboard.

While more points are earned at higher stake levels, everyone participating in the same raked hand earns the same number of points—regardless of how much rake they contributed to the pot. The Beast leaderboard features two prize pools — a cash prize pool and a tournament entry prize pool. Players automatically compete for both prizes by ranking on the leaderboard. All prizes are awarded at the end of the month. And because The Beast grows using money generated at Jackpot tables, the more people who play at the jackpot tables, the greater the prize pool, and, in turn, the more people who'll reap the rewards.
