Mashantucket, Connecticut - (PRESS RELEASE) -- Already a poker powerhouse, Foxwoods Resort Casino today announced plans to open a newly expanded state-of-the-art poker room in the Spring of 2006. The
Foxwoods Casino Resort project will boost the number of poker tables at the resort to 114 from its current total of 76. This reflects a 40% increase in the capacity of the existing poker room. The expansion will allow expanded tournament offerings as well as significantly increasing prize pool totals. It also solidifies Foxwoods as the largest and most prestigious casino poker room in the country and the only venue for poker in New England.
The new poker room at Foxwoods will move to a more expansive space located near the current poker area. New poker technology will also add to the player experience, including use of LED table components, automatic card shufflers and a state-of-the-art seating system. The poker room will be smoke-free and will offer a new 100+ seat restaurant, adjacent to the poker area.
“We are continually striving to offer our customers the ultimate poker experience.” says Kathy Raymond, Director of Poker Operations at Foxwoods. “More tables and cutting edge technology will translate into less waiting and more action for our players, as well as giving us an even greater opportunity to host premiere poker events.”
A charter member of the popular World Poker Tour (WPT), Foxwoods hosts the highly-rated series during its World Poker Finals event each November. Through its affiliation with the WPT, Foxwoods is showcased on the Travel Channel and on television in more than 60 countries throughout the world. Foxwoods also hosts the New England Poker Classic each spring, also one of the largest and most well-regarded tournaments nationwide. Kathy Raymond, Director of Poker Operations at Foxwoods, is recognized as one of the most influential figures in the industry.
